Message: <blockquote data-quote="Warrior Poet" data-source="post: 173491" data-attributes="member: 1057">A quick scan of these rules forums and the DMG, PHB, and Monster Manual revealed nothing, but I may have overlooked the answer.When applying the damage, or ability drain (of a ghost, for example) to multiple targets, is it best to roll the 1d4 for each character affected, or to roll the 1d4 as a static number that affects each character that failed the save the same?  That is, a fireball is one damage roll that affects (assuming failed saves) everyone in the blast radius.  If a ghost sneaks up on five characters, and they turn, only to be met by the horrid countenance, does the 1d4 ability drain affect everyone who fails the save across the board for the same value, or does the 1d4 need to be rolled per character that failed?Many thanks,Warrior Poet</blockquote>
