Tyr Must Pay! The party, after gaining the sponsorship of the local hobgoblin kingdom by raiding the adjacent human kingdom, cleared out a hive of Formians on the border. While waiting for their new residence to be renovated (enlarged, new furniture, death traps, torture room, altar to vile gods. You know, the usual.) they went off to enlist the aid of some nearby Gnoll tribes in the coming war between the humans and hobgoblins (they got a bit carried away in their raiding) and along the way killed an adult blue dragon (possessed it and went on another rampage through the human kingdom actually). Upon their triumphant return to the hobgoblin kingdom on dragon-back(though they had to kill the dragon immediately on landing because the possession was wearing off), they discover that giants have their new headquarters under siege, so they trek off to deal with that. A nice bit of diplomacy later, and the hobgoblins have a new ally (the giants), the giants have some land to call their own (on the border between the hobgoblins and humans), and the party has their headquarters back(unfinished and with a pile of dead hobgoblin workers). So everyone is... er happy (actually the hobgoblins are the onl ones that came out ahead, but I'm not pointing that out). They take a month off from active adventuring to build a golem, animate the dragon as a skeletal mount, and make sure no one else comes along and kills the workers before the deathtraps are done. The one semi-normal party member, a female rogue/assassin who specializes in seduction, goes off and assassinates the general of the human army, only to find out a week or so later that he got ressurected. Fast foward a month and the hobgoblins are sieging the city that the party attacked while they had control of the dragon, and the party decides to help out with the siege. One of the death knights, IMO a bit cocky with his ability to go ethereal, scouts out the city wall from the ethereal plane. Several minutes into his jaunt, a Blinking Trumpet Archon appears and Banishes his prized Night Mare (evidently he forgot it was an outsider, Planar Ally is such a nice spell...) That's where we stopped, the three options for retrieving the beast are: 1. head to Carcerai via Plane Shiftand find it 2. acquire a scroll of Gate and call it (pricey) 2.b find someone who can cast Gate (and tell them its true name, yea right) 3. wait a year and a day and use his death knight ability and call a new one (once again, yea right)
