Suppose you are fighting a goblin army. What happens when your rolling waterball (Aqueous Orb, a third level spell) is filled up with 16 goblins, and you are still moving it over ennemies ? 1) Targets are damaged if they fail their save, but they can't be picked up by the orb. 2) Targets are damaged if they fail their save, and if they fail another save, a random creature inside the orb is ejected in a random square. 3) Targets are damaged if they fail their save, and if they fail another save, a random creature inside the orb is allowed a new save. If it saves, it escapes and is replaced by the new victim. 4) Something else ? I was thinking about a scenario my character encountered recently : a goblin army massed on a narrow path between a wall and a cliff. If only I have had this spell, it could have been a cakewalk. But I wonder how the DM would have ruled the spell after the 16 first goblins (out of nearly 100..). And what about creatures being pushed into the orb ? Do they take automatic damages ? The goblins on the front were advancing because they were pushed by those on the rear...Could they enter (volontarily or not) the orb even if it was "full" ? And what happens if a creature escape in a square that is already occupied ? Does it provoke an AoO ? Does it make a bull rush ? Is it pushed back ? Does it fall prone ? The answer is important, because in the situation I described, the only free squares adjacent to the orb would have been those above a 600 feet high cliff... (that's 4 squares of void. There was also 4 squares occupied by the cliff wall, 4 squares full of the enemy goblins, and 4 squares full of allied goblins our characters were busy freing... long story...)
