Wicht, here ya go. Actually, this spell might not make the book - but will definitely be part of a web-expansion for the book. This is the up to date version. . . -------------------------------------------- Coldstar By Eric Minton Evocation [Cold] Level: Wizard 5 Components: V, S, M Casting Time: 1 action Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) Effect: Glowing orb that casts 30-ft. rays of light Duration: 1 day/level (D) Saving Throw: Reflex negates (see text) Spell Resistance: Yes This spell creates a deadly magical trap. When cast, a fist-sized, sparkling orb appears in a location chosen by the caster. This orb hovers in place and sends forth shifting rays of blue-white light over a 30 ft. radius sphere. The rays pass right through inanimate objects, such as armor and undead, but they inflict a terrible chill on living beings. Whenever a living creature enters the affected area or begins its turn therein, it must make a Reflex save or be struck by a ray, which inflicts 1 cold damage per caster level. If a living creature touches the orb itself, the orb explodes in a blast of icy cold, inflicting 1d8 points of cold damage per caster level on all creatures within 30 ft. (maximum 10d8). All creatures within the blast area, except for the one who triggered the coldstar, may make a Reflex save for half damage. The orb has an AC of 12, and may only be triggered by contact with living matter. If the orb has not been triggered by the end of the spell duration, it fades away without exploding. If the central orb of a coldstar is subjected to 30 or more points of heat or fire damage in a single round, the coldstar will dissipate. Any lesser flame will have no effect upon it. A wall of fire will block the rays of a coldstar without any harmful effects to either spell. Material Component: A piece of rune-etched glass.
