Arabian Themed Art and Maps

First Post
I'm putting together an adventure that's set in a vaguely Arabian/middle eastern setting and I'd like to have some NPC portraits and some city maps to go with it. Can anyone point me to some good resources for this? Free is great, but I'm willing to buy something if its really useful.

I would imagine Al-Qadim stuff would be really useful for this, but I can't really seem to find much of anything in an admittedly brief web search.

Thanks.

I didn't find any galleries, but I did Google a lot using keywords on Image search when I was doing similar searches last year. With some hunting, I found a fair amount. Entries like "mosque", "wadi", "kaaba", "hookah" and so forth did okay.

Another alternative is to check e-Bay. A fair amount of old Al-Qadim sets go up for sale frequently. You could just cut out the art. (Which is, admittedly, less per page than in 3E.)

The Al Qadim books and boxed sets had the best production values of all D&d stuff so far imho. Though the artwork may be b/w in the interior it was still awesome and very flavourful. Definately browse through one or two of the boxed sets or books if you see them anywhere...

Some of the Al Qadim books are available for free at WotC. So check out Corsairs of the Great Sea and Caravans for free.

www.angelfire.com/rpg2/zakhara has some more free stuff.

The TSR Archive site has the cover art, backcover text and content description of all Al Qadim books/boxes. Though it omits that the Complete Necromancer's Guide (available in html here) does contain lots of Al Qadim material (and some artwork)

Have you loked at the following websites?
www.al-qadim.com

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design Project # 4 was an Arabian Adventures anthology btw. Here's a preview: http://www.koboldquarterly.com/od4prev01.pdf

Thanks. I've mostly found what I'm looking for. Sadly, illustrations for NPCs are still a bit scarce but they're pretty scarce for "western" NPCs too. You're golden as long as you want high-fantasy stuff but if you want a run of the mill merchant or innkeeper, you're out of luck.

Still, I've been able to mine most of what I want from various sources. Thanks.
