As the last emperor of the Elven empire of Elegost Aravaine proved his vileness by opening the great gate of Cuilanthara to the vast armies of the Nethrim, and condemning his people to death. Eight hundred years later, on the completion of the grand monument to himself he shed his physical form and from his new unending life has ruled his orcish minions. The God of the Underworld Aravaine most often appears as a gaunt elven man of slight stature, wearing midnight colored armor, and eyes filled with the stars of the night sky. (As an Ascended mortal, Aravaine does not have outsider hit dice as others of his pantheon do). Dogma Aravaine requires that his followers be strong, and that they sort those that our strong from the weak, and that his followers show a high level of cunning, and malice. Mercy, and hospitality are things that Aravaine does not tolerate from his people. Cunning deeds, betrayal, and broken loyalties for physical beings are his creed. He believes that all lands once held by the elves ( almost all of the world) should be under the dominion of his followers. Aravaine dislikes anything that is not of the Nethrim. He particularly hates the Elves of descended from the Empire over which he once ruled. And strongly dislikes the Stoutkin of the mountains because of the support they have given to elves in the past. Clergy, and Temples Aravaine’s clerics struggle to cause as much pain, and malice possible. They serve as the Justicars of their people, sorting the weak from the strong. They are the headsmen of their people, and the Butchers in battle. They always wear fighting gear, and a few of his Paladins have formed grand orders which serve him in specific things. Among these are the Nightwatchers, the Black Templars, And the Dark Berserkers. Aravaine prefers that his followers travel to his main temple of Nethak-Dul, though he also encourages his clergy to build temples at the sites of great battle, or brutal deaths, and Most of the Nethrim warlords build sanctuary temples deep within their fortresses.
