Arcane Flame Blade?

Does anyone know of any arcane spells that work like flame blade?

Or any arcane spells that provide you with a weapon that you weild similar to flame blade?

The only one that springs to mind is Decastave from page 49 of Unapproachable East, Sor/wiz 2, makes a qurterstaff of force.

IIRC there is an arcane spell somewhere in Forgotten Realms called Flame Dagger, which is just like flame blade but does 1d4 and is 1st level.

Its listed in the PGtF but I dont recall which book. Probably magic of faerun.

Unless this is a strictly core rules campaign, you might talk to your DM about adding Sor/Wiz 2 to the level line of Flame Blade itself. There's no particular reason wizards shouldn't be able to create a flame blade but druids should be able to.

Bear in mind that Wizards and Sorcerers will take a -4 penalty on attack rolls - they're not proficient with scimitar.

Likely it isnt quite what you are going for, but I really like chill touch. One touch per level, d6 plus possible str damage, and it is a fun spell to have up and run around smacking people with

Putting in a little flavor text just for your own casting and making it look like a sickly curved dagger with some strange blueish goo dripping from it might work depending on your dm.

Given the existence of the markedly superior Blade of Pain and Fear from Libris Mortis, I'd recommend you just add Sor/Wiz 2 to the level list of Flame Blade.

Mordenkainen's Sword... you don't wield it but then again why the heck would any Wizard/Sorcerer want to mix it up in melee? By the time you can cast Mordy's Sword no melee warrior should be able to even approach you.
