The following is a partial list of house rules and campaign options for the archipelago-set campaign I'm currently designing. I have not yet finalised the full list, especially of campaign options; for one thing, I'm not sure which races other than human will be permitted to PCs. House Rules 1) All skill ranks cost 1 skill point for all classes. I want to encourage the attitude in my players that skills represent experience and knowledge not covered by class features. The number of skill points each class receives at each level is unchanged. 2) The Listen and Spot skills are combined into a single skill called Perceive. Any class or racial ability granting Awareness now grants Skill Focus: Perceive. 3) The Hide and Move Silently skills are combined into a single skill called Sneak. Any class or racial ability granting Awareness now grants Skill Focus: Sneak. 4) Favoured classes and multiclassing restrictions are abolished. No experience penalty accrues for multiclassing, and the only restriction on doing so is one of common sense; you cannot multiclass between two kinds of specialist wizard, or between clerics of different gods. 5) Per the rules in Unearthed Arcana, metamagic feats can be used three times per day, and no longer require the caster to use a higher-level slot to cast an altered spell. Instead, each metamagic feat can be used on spells of as many levels lower than the highest-level spell the character can cast as the normal adjustment of the metamagic feat. 6) By default, the D&D rules allow a character to qualify for a feat or prestige class by using a magic item to fulfill one or more of the prerequisites of the feat or class. This no longer applies. 7) The death rules from the Ghostwalk campaign option will (probably) be used. 8) Ability scores will be determined by a 28-point point-buy system. 9) Clerics who worship deities are not required to keep their alignment within one step of their patron's alignment. 10) Certain uses of divinatory spells will not function, including but not limited to providing answers concerning the nature and existence of deities, the nature and source of divine magic, and the truth of religious doctrines. Campaign Options Generally speaking, the campaign is open to the inclusion of any material, subject to DM approval. I intend to accomodate the wishes and ideas of my players as much as possible. The following base classes are available: Player's Handbook: Cleric, druid, fighter, ranger, rogue, wizard. Arcana Unearthed: Champion, totem warrior, unfettered, warmain. Complete Book of Eldritch Might: Bard, sorcerer. Complete Divine: Favoured soul, shugenja, spirit shaman. Complete Warrior: Hexblade, martial ranger. Eberron: Artificer. Expanded Psionics Handbook: Psion, psychic warrior, soulknife, wilder. Ghostwalk: Eidolon, eidoloncer. Unearthed Arcana: Cloistered cleric, totem barbarian (Ape, Dragon, Eagle, Jaguar, Serpent, or Wolf), urban ranger. The following prestige classes are available, though they may have altered prerequisites: Dungeon Master's Guide: Arcane trickster, archmage, duelist, dwarven defender, eldritch knight, hierophant, horizon walker, loremaster, mystic theurge, shadowdancer, thaumaturgist. Complete Book of Eldritch Might: Diplomancer, eldritch warrior, embermage, graven one, song mage. Complete Divine: Blighter, church inquisitor, consecrated harrier, contemplative, divine crusader, evangelist, geomancer, holy liberator, hospitaler, pious templar, rainbow servant, sacred exorcist, sacred fist, stormlord, temple raider of Olidammara, warpriest. Complete Warrior: Dervish, drunken master, exotic weapon master, invisible blade, justiciar, master thrower, master of the unseen hand, mindspy, nature’s warrior, occult slayer, order of the bow initiate, reaping mauler, spellsword, stonelord, tattoed monk, warshaper. Eberron: Master inquisitive. Expanded Psionics Handbook: Elocater, fist of Zuoken, illithid slayer, metamind, psion uncarnate, pyrokineticist, warmind. Ghostwalk: Bone collector, ghost slayer. I may also be including material from Oriental Adventures.
