I tend to roll poorly overall in combat, but relatively well on skillchecks(unless it's something important). It's not all 1's or 2's, but it's enough to be discouraging for me. In a game right now, I'm playing a Dragonborn Dragon Sorceress who used her breath on three thieves. My luck wasn't too bad... I hit 1 of them for 6 damage. (Level 1 character versus some thieves, rolled a 10, a 7 and an 18 on attack rolls, a 5 on damage) In another game, my paladin(3.5) did well in a combat scenario. First off, he failed his will save by 1 against a Glitterdust spell, then managed a crit with a concealed weapon while blinded, nearly killing a thug when a miniature riot broke out. However, he subsequently failed a listen check to detect a paladin moving behind him to force him to stand down, and failed his reflex check to evade the threat. However, in one game, I found it very funny. I was playing a level 2 monk(3.5), versus another level 2 monk. I kept missing him, and eventually he got me into a grapple(my character was a trip/disarm build, the other was a grappler) and nearly staggered me... then the roller (it's a PbP game, we use Invisiblecastle) was down, so the DM rolled for me. I didn't mind, since I figured he couldn't roll worse for me. Turns out he DID roll worse for me, but the NPC's luck was even WORSE than mine, and I successfully tripped the guy(after he'd let me go[fight was more an entertainment/gladiator thing]) and kicked him in the abdomen with a Stunning Blow stunning him. Which let me get off a FoB against his lower AC and hit him twice... then the DM wrapped up the encounter with something interrupting the fight. So, the DM rolling WORSE for me in that last example actually made me luckier. Go figure.
