Are the WOTC forums borked?

past week or so, their forums seem to be broken: frequently I get a "database error" trying ot open a thread, or the forums are down! :/
I'm gonna suggest 'borked,' as I tried checking them briefly this morning and got the same result. Got it yesterday morning to, but seemed to be back up and running by the afternoon.

I wonder if they are just suffering from a hammering considering the rules have just been getting into people hands, and they have a load of comments to make about them.

It's how they stop people complaining. ;)
this would not surprise me... start getting too much negative comments (bad press), then just shut down the forum to allow things to cool off. Then bring it back up later, citing technical problems, and even (conveniently) losing a number of posts back to a certain time.... effectively erasing much of the negative material.

And why not? its their forum. Its purpose is to be a tool to support and encourage their products... not as a tool for naysayers to tear down their market. I just wish they were up front about it, rather than using the sneaky b@sterd methods. It is all too apparent to me.

Nah. IF they wanted to stop people from complaining, they'd just filter the words out or start banning people or put a moratorium up. My suspicion is that they are getting heavily hammered or someone's DDoSing them.

It's really strange how unstable the site is. One would have thought that running a web forum would be a "solved problem" by now, especially since WotC have been running them for years.

I'm constantly surprised at how backhandedly the launch of the 4E website has been. There's not even a newsfeed with daily posts on the front page. ?!

I can't get to them today. It just reinforces my opinion that I should not trust WotC to provide me online tools that I have to pay for.

Oh well, its not like they just launched a new product and want people on their boards....

If they can't even keep something like a forum running without prolonged scheduled downtime every day, and now unscheduled downtime. What hope do they have of keeping something like the virtual table up 24/7?
