CAMPAIGN SYNOPSIS
There exists within the farthest, most remote portion of Faerun, an immense object of equally immense power. For eons, this device has functioned without error, and largely, without any knowledge of its existence. Three weeks ago, something fell occured throughout the realms. First, vast hordes of creatures suddenly disappeared from Toril - No trace of their passing remained. Worse, storms and drought beset upon the world, ravishing the lands as never before, giving way to total destruction from mountains to shore of all but the most fortified city-states. Most devestating however, was the loss of magic by all but the chosen-few; mortals made into deific vassals for their waning gods.

At first, some heralded the events as the second coming of the Time of Troubles, and perhaps they're not entirely mistaken. Yet when Ao walked the earth with thunderous steps, realization that something far more sinister was at hand dawned upon the remaining masses of Faerun. It is the Coming of AO where this story begins - and unless the vassals of Deific Might can stem the nhilistic flow which seems to be uncreating things the world over - it may end too soon thereafter!

It looks...interesting. Oddly low-level for a high power game, which is interesting. :)

Is it a one-shot, or a lead in to 4e, or...?

50 point buy makes a few MAD concepts I've been wanting to try doable. :)

...

Also, what Fangor said.

Yes, I know 50-point buy seems high. IF you compare results of that point buy to the average stated results of 4d6/rerollones, you'll see that the average is within that range (about 45-50)... 4d6/rerolltwos increases that average accordingly. Increased Equipment and Ability Scores allows for hardier PC's and increased difficulty on encounters while retaining a lower level in general.

As to my DM experience, that's a much longer story - but suffice to say that I've been gaming for years. Most recently, I've run the following games in a Play-by-post style:

a) Epic Level (30), wherein the Party sought many artifacts and had faced many encounters, but only ever came to actual combat once.

b) Forgotten Realms (15-18), wherein the Party faced Phaerimm, Malaugrym and Shadovar - a foreshadowing of the events centered around the Archwizards Trilogy.

c) Low-Magic Campaign (8-10), wherein the Party faced Cthulhu-esque challenges in a setting with muskets and magic.

There are others, too, but I trust that'll do. :D

I'd like a shot at this game. I'm thinking a melee fighter of some type, haven't quite decided on class yet. I'd like to make him more than just "thought/smash" and the 50 point buy will definetly allow that!

Ohhh, me!

For any of those unsure of this game, I've played in many, many games run by MD, and never found his DMing style wanting. Hes a great DM, and this should be a great game :D

Then count me in! Sounds like a good chance to try out some wicked schemes. So, any class will do? Perhaps a Favored Soul would be an adaptable choice for this campaign. Either that, or a Dragon Shaman
