Back in the heyday of D&D before computer games and when Temple of Elemental Evil was just module T1 "The Village of Hommlet" and that was your lot (played with Basic red book rules at first in my case) this would never have been an issue. I may be wrong, but most gamers were footloose and fancy free pre-teens/teenagers/early twenties back then. Now many of those teens are mums and dads with homes and jobs and demanding babies/kids to look after. However, before more fortunate souls start to feel sorry for me, at least us pseudo gamers are still enjoying the hobby we grew up with!
