Usefulness is dependent on if you use it or not, am I wrong? The problem is "The Right Cantrip for the Job" doesn't switch as and bonus action so your likely only going to switch when you KNOW one cantrips is better than another for some things... but once you know that, your likely to keep that cantrip on your spell list never needing to swap it out again. Using an ability once per campaign for the cost of an ability I would actually use every session is a great lose. "Wand Prototype" adds a cantrip giving more choices but that means I need to switch them out even less. So while the SEEM to play off each other but actually it provides another option which means I fallout my 1-3 cantrip want list and have no need to change it out. I very rarely need more than a few cantrips. My point is in an entire campaign I might have thought, I wish I hand cantrip X instead of cantrip Y, 1 or 2 times and when I did, would have needed to be able to switch as a bonus action, right then to use it as needed. So if "The Right Cantrip for the Job" was once a once a day bonus action, then action to cast ability... it would be awesome. Since it requires a minimum of 1 hour undisturbed before the moment what you need to cast it, I am just keeping a solid base list and ignoring it. Its currently a very limited use or simply unneeded ability. It fails to make me want to change cantrips all the time as intended an really I would just prefer "Wand Prototype" or one more static cantrips over the currently ability.
