ARGH!! Darn you, Dragon Magazine!!

So the latest issue about the drow has an article about an underground drow-fighting secret organization called the Ashen Compact.

Well, those of you who read Shark's threads may remember some months back that I was talking to him about an organization of undead in my campaign setting that was called the Ashen Covenant.

I was planning to use them in a future D20 product. Now I'm going to have to change the name, since many people assume "rip-off" rather than "coincidental parallel name development." And I really liked it, too. :(

Bleah.

Use the name you like. The names and intent sure seem different to me, and no one at Dragon's going to worry about you repeating the word "Ashen."

Oh, I'm sure you wouldn't. I'm more concerned with public perception than any worry that you folks would think I was plagiarizing.

And I'm not really miffed at you. Hence the use of "darn," as opposed to something a lot stronger. ;)

Still, thanks for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it. :)

Get used to it, dude.

During the time I was working on my cities book, Dragon undermined two or three of my enhancements to the generic city stat block. Bastards. They're hacking my computer, I know it!

"Paizo" is actually an acronym for "we have your computer tapped". Now that you know the secret though, a paizobot will be paying you a visit.

Anyone manage to catch who wrote that article, btw? None other than former WotC Master Tools guru and now sometime-Green Ronin scribe Jim Bishop!
