[QUOTE="HeavenShallBurn, post: 3697394, member: 39593"] No but there would be plenty who were convinced they were Good, even if it was just a self-delusion. The OP was more a teaser blurb than anything else but it encapsulates the overall atmosphere well. Mix ragnorak, gotterdamrung, the titanomachy, and every other apocalyptic myth of the turning of Ages and you've got a good start. In many mythologies the current gods are openly acknowledged to have usurped power from primordial entities. My idea emphasizes the fact that they did usurp power and twists the reasons for it. Adds the complication that the powers with which they cast down the Titans were stolen by devouring the essences of lesser planar beings to fuel themselves. That the present order of mortality and petitioners is unnatural and exists to prevent the "mortals" from realizing their true nature or what has happening on the planes. Basically the setting is the warning shocks that herald Ragnorak and the return of the primordial Titans to punish their impudent offspring and restore the proper older order to the Planes. Throwing the players in on the side of the Titans by making them those who have escaped the nets of the Gods. Who are attempting do discover why things are not as they are and catch the whispers of the restlessly bound Titans in preparing the way for the End of the Gods and freeing the "petitioners" from the shackles the arrogant Gods have imposed to achieve their true potential.
