Armor and Minimum enhancement.

There was an discussion about armor and the minimum enhancement..

Now the faq say's this:

On page 214 of the Player’s Handbook, some of the listed armor selections have a cost of “special.” What does this mean?

These types of armors are explained on page 212 of the Player’s Handbook. They are Masterwork armors and cannot be purchased. They serve as the base armors for creating magic armors with higher enhancement bonuses. For example, if your hide armor is +4 or +5, it is Darkhide armor. You would then use the base stats for Darkhide armor. If the bonus was +6 or greater, it would be Elderhide armor

So when hide armor becomes +4, it is automatticaly called Darkhide, for an total ac of 8 (4 for darkhide and 4 for minimum enhancement?) or do you only have an +4?

It strikes me as weird if i can make an Hide armor +3 and the have an total of ac 7, and then it jumps back to +4, so im guessing +8 in total.. But any confirmation would be great.. im an bit confused..

Do i understand this correct?
The way I understood it when I read that section (and I have been wrong many times before) was that you can not have masterwork hide armor, if it is masterwork, then it must be Darkhide or Elderhide. but if you have magic armor fo that type it would stack, to where +4 Darkhide armor would give you a total AC bonus of +8. that is the way I read it, but I'm still getting my feet wet in 4 ed :)

I edited an small portion in the last line, but i am also thinking +8

When you get armor of a certain base enchantment, it's masterwork armor, and that masterwork armor may have other enchantments that change its cost. Basic leather armor costs 25 gold. Shadowflow Starleather +6 costs 2,125,000 gp. Sunleaf Feyleather +4 costs 65,000 gp.
