Armor Class Questions

I have a question about my bladesinger's AC. I have:
18 dex
19 int
Mage Armor
Mithril Chain Shirt +2
I was wanting to know if mage armor worked with armor in my phb it does not say. Thanks

A general rule of thumb: unless otherwise noted, with the exception of dodge bonuses, any bonus of similar type do not stack.

Since the armor and mage armor spell both provide armor bonus, you have to pick the better of the two ... not stack them.

However... mage armor would protect you against incorpeal attacks...

You can, of course, use the shield spell, cat's grace and haste to further impvore your AC (and Expertise helps, too! Bladesingers are real AC-monsters)

Your PH does say -- on p. 104, under the heading "Armor Bonus": "This bonus is an armor bonus, so it does not stack with other effects that increase your armor bonus, such as the mage armor spell..."
