Armored Casting (New Skill)

Because of a change made to a few other classes; Druids being most notable. In a game closer to Core, 10% is probably fine. Thus my remark, "it's a good feat nonetheless."

I was just following up on Kip's remark about using a 5% to 15% range more than anything else.

However, for non-stacking, I'd up it to 15%; As a one-shot, that doesn't strike me as overpowered.

:)

Ahh... kewl, thanks.

But maybe 5% is better anyway... I don't want 6th level mages running around in full-plate!!!

I haven't let this feat into my canpaign at all yet... the only way to do this withing the rules so far is the Spellsword PrC (I think it's the only PrC anyway...).

Let me try to help.

Skill: Armored Casting
dex, trained,etc.
For every 1 skill point put into this skill, you reduce your ASF when wearing armor by 2%.
So, lets say the character is wearing Full Plate.

Full plate= 35% ASF
Lets say the character has 10 ranks in this skill.
That reduces the ASF by 20%, making it 15% ASF.

By level 20, the PC can reduce ASF by 46%, feesibly allowing the mage to walk around with full plate and a large shield, with only 4% ASF.

If you think it's too strong, you can make it that for every rank after 10, it only reduces ASF by 1% per rank.
23 ranks would reduce ASF by 33%.

That way, a caster can equip powerful armor by level 20 with ease.

Hopefully this helps some.:D

Oops... Made an error.

We edited Armored Casting so that it is -10% the first time you take it, and then -5% for each stack-up. I was just flipping through my notes and it caught my eye.

Game on.

:D

Jerrid,
Now that I can live with. Thanks.

Casting in Armor [General]
You have learned to cast spells in armor easily.
Prerequisites: Dex 13+, proficiency in armor
Benefit: Arcane spell failure is reduced by, -10%
Special: can take this feat multiple times, benefits stack, but each subsequent feat only reduces the arcane spell failure by -5%.
