Array v 4d6: Punishment? Or overlooked data

Die rolling and player choices tend to be more relevant to character survival than initial stat array IME. I find the talk of dollars to donuts guarantees of rolling stats leading to table problems to be silly. Maybe with your group but it hasn't been my experience.
