Art Galleries: why no cover images?

I'm particularly thinking of the Eberron and Forgotten Realms titles... they've got great cover images, but when you go to the WotC art galleries online, they have all the art. Except the cover art.

Why did that get left off?

I mean, you can get most of the Eberron covers from Wayne Reynolds' website (although most are at lousy resolution) and I've seen some of the FR titles on artists' websites here and there, but seriously: if WotC is going to provide the art galleries, why are they leaving off the cover art?

Maybe they don't get those reprint rights.

Why did that get left off?

No clue. But you get the Eberron cover at the Wallpaper gallery for the Eberron book[Url]. Look around in the general gallery, IIRC, the Player's Guide for FR also has the cover.

This would also deny the theory of a lack of reproduction rights. Perhaps they want to prevent counterfeits?

Sadly, it seems to me that for many of those books, the cover images are literally the best images in the book.

And in the case of the Eberron books, you don't really get a great view of the whole image anywhere either.

Especially when it comes to adventure covers. WAR's awesome covers for Secrets of the Last War, Whispers of the Vampire's Blade, Grasp of the Emerald Claw, Voyage of the Golden Dragon and Eyes of the Lich Queen are nowhere to be seen.

Yeah, I know. Only about two of his Eberron covers are at the same resolution as they'd be even on the book; most of them are half that. If that.

The FR covers; no idea. I happened to stumble across Unapproachable East while browsing Matt Wilson's website, but I have no idea where to get the others. Scan my hardbacks and trim, I guess.

Yeah, TSR used to release art calendars and artbooks all the time. Back when I got all pretentious and left D&D in a huff, I still really dug those artbooks and calendars.

I'm hoping for an artbook, and even posters of WAR's stuff. Especially the Eberron covers.
