Nowadays, they're angry at you and flashing big teeth and rays are shooting off. But for some reason, I see this image and it sticks with me more than any other. I think it's the alien way beholders were supposed to be. What are those eyes doing...why is it looking at me? Is it smiling at me, or is that just its face? What holds it up?
