So far I've received about 5 proposals for articles in Asgard magazine, issue 7. Because I've been busy with various Natural 20 Press affairs (primarily finishing d20 Supers and arranging my trip to GenCon this year) I've only replied to a few so far, but I'll try to get to everyone by tonight. I'm still definitely interested in seeing more submissions, however, so please, if you have an idea, please contact me at RangerWickett@hotmail.com Asgard Magazine Submission Details Asgard is our fan-based magazine, so all contributions are on a volunteer-basis. If you're interested in doing work for pay, Natural 20 Press also produces pdf products, though we often use Asgard as something of a proving ground for those who want to write something larger for Nat20. In general, we prefer non-fiction articles related to D20 gaming and fantasy in general, usually in the crunchy to crunchy/creamy end of the scale. Unless you specifically request it, all submissions to Asgard will be released as Open Content, though if your proposal is entirely non-crunchy, we can keep it non-Open, if you want. Also, unless there is a pressing need to do otherwise, all rights to submissions belong to Natural 20 Press and ENWorld. If you're interested in submitting a piece of fiction, realize that in general, stories haven't been well-received in the past. We ran a few stories, but they received relatively minimal feedback. Fiction isn't high on our list of priorities, but if you want to submit something, we'll definitely consider including it. For either fiction or non-fiction pieces, we generally want to keep word counts below 6000. Since people have to download the magazine, we don't want to inconvenience them too much by having overly-large file sizes, so we prefer to have a lot of smaller articles to only a few large articles. Normally Asgard is bi-monthly, but oddly we didn't receive many submissions at all for this issue, so we had to push the deadline back. The new deadline is August 7th, and the deadline for the next issue thereafter will probably be October 15th. For any article, however, we usually prefer to have the writer send us a proposal first, so we can discuss a little with them before they write it. We generally don't like to have more than 2 prestige classes per issue, and similarly we try to avoid having other types of duplication, so it usually helps if you can give us a little advance notice before sending in a finished piece. Of course, if the quality is good enough, we'll accept any submission, potentially even running two competing pieces at once.
