Assassin's Death Attack DC

Is the DC for an assassin's Death Attack 10 + int modifier + assassin level, or 10 + int modifier + character level?

I'm assuming it is the first, but it seems a bit weak compared to other death effects. (Sure, he's not a wizard, but you'd think that the DC should be higher than like, 24 for a suped up assassin. By that level, what WON'T make that DC?)

It is the first. Try items that enhance your Int and assassin's daggers.

A character that is a) unlucky and/or b) doesn't have a good Fort save.

Not everyone has a good fort save. At ten level Assassin we'll set the DC at 24 assuming tha assassin has made an effert to put hin intelligence higher.

I'm using the NPCs from the DMG at 20th level for this.

Druid +16 Fort
Fighter +18 Fort
Monk +14 Fort
Paladin +21 Fort
Ranger +14 Fort
Rogue +11 Fort

I'd say the assassin's death attack DC seems about right.

Problem is once an Assasin is 10th level there are plenty of other, better one shot kill class combos. You'd think Assasins would rule the school at, well, assasinating people.

You could also get tomes, I won't put them in because they are too rare in most campaigns and they are expsensive

Besides, since according to FAQ (and Dieties and Demigods, apparently), a '1' is ALWAYS a failure on a saving throw, that means that even a low level assassin (with, say, one level of wizard or sorceror for that wonderful spell that gives one a +20 to hit) has a 5% chance of dropping a character outright. Fun for DMs. Oh wait, you are probably thinking of PLAYING an assassin (how naughtily evil!)
