How much would it cost to hire a highly skilled assassin (or an adventurer with bad morals) to kill someone?
Of course, it would depend on the target, but does anyone have general guidelines?

What adventure hooks can I get from some of the PCs hiring an assassin?

IMC, the Nighthawks, the premiere assassins' guild charge (1000 gp times the level squared) of the target. The actual fee is adjusted upwards or downwards based on other factors.
"Level" is determined based on a Sense Motive assessment by the guild.

The Nighthawks don't ever fail. They'll commit huge swaths of destruction and guarantee a target death. They don't have any disagreements with the "regular" assassins floating around doing piece-work, because they are consummate professionals, considering it silly to hire lesser quality assassins.

Other assassins tend to charge much lower rates, but I don't have a specific formula. Maybe 1000 gp per "level"?
