Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea

7 and 8, we have had a go with PF Beginner Box, cos of the shiny, and that was OK but too many rules for me to keep an eye on. Also played a fair bit of the Wrath of Ashardalon board game.
Awesome. :)

Yes, AS&SH could be much simpler. Thing is, you don't have to use all the expanded combat options and the like in the game. If you start with the four base classes of Fighter, Magician, Cleric and Thief, all your children have to have really is not even a full character sheet, but an index card with the stats, the gear, and eventual spells. They roll d6/d12 for task resolution every once in a while, but you can manage the rest of the details as the GM - they don't need to have every single particular or modifiers and the like.

This is a very interesting series of posts. :)

Thank you very much, Libramarian! It's an ongoing series. Far from done, but with quite a bit of advice, practical examples, meat for games and the like. I'm having a lot of fun writing all this. :)

I've just received Dungeon World too, so now I have to decide between 3 systems!

And thanks @Olhanan
