Honestly... getting maps that line up perfectly has never really been a big problem in my mind. When you stop and consider it's a two-dimensional, skewed and skewered representation of a roughly perfect sphere, there's bound to be numerous things that are just slightly 'off'. I always just consider that as part and parcel of getting a 2D map. Hell, I even think of it as part of the map's "flavor". Cartographers all view things with completely different 'eyes', one may notice a tiny crag, but miss the particular way a river twists through a mountain range, while another catches the river's twist perfectly, but can't find that crag to save his soul. Now, granted, in my 'younger days', I collected all of the FR maps, posting them up on my wall to form a huge mural, and sometimes things didn't line up quite perfectly at all... but it didn't bother me. The old FR map consisted of more than a dozen completely separate panels, with different editors, printers, cartographers, and gods know who else, working on them. Errors like 'not quite lining up perfectly' I can live with. Telling me that Silverymoon is east of Shadowdale, however, is something that would cause me to question the integrity of the cartographer... but it would take a drastic mishandling such as that for me to get really pissy about it. Hell, when I'm working on my own maps, trying to expand the scale and using up countless sheets of paper to get things just right, there's still slight inaccuracies that crop up, from paper curling, shrinkage, and what not... and heaven forbid if one of those maps gets something spilled upon it! So, until gaming companies put out "geographically correct" globes of their worlds, I'm not going to go on any 'Cartographer Burnings' for such minor 'annoyances' as Jigsaw Maps. - Christopher
