At what Cover Price do you Drop?

At what cover price does Dragon go from being something you may pick up on the stands occassionally to something you either subscribe to because it's so much cheaper or completely drop?

I think the $8 cover price is my limit but I'm already a subscriber so it's not quite as big a deal for me to continue my subscriptions.

Others?

8 bucks is already over my limit. I grab the ones that have the Demonomicon in them becuase I'm a total sucker for that kind of material, other than that I don't find the magazine to be worth the cover price since I don't often dig a lot of the content.

I really don't know. Dungeon has adventures that, on their own, could go for $10 a pop if published as single modules. So I might be inclined to keep up with it if the magazine's price raises to about $10. Dragon...I love it, and think it's in a second Golden Age, but I don't think I'd keep up with it if the price raises much more. But I've already switched over to a month-to-month subscription primarily because of the $8 newsstand price.

I'd be fine with it if both mags increased page count but included a lot more ads to defray costs. This is especially true if actual usable content increases also.

I don't subscribe (although I do subscribe to Dungeon)

I would consider picking up the occasional issue of Dragon if they were affordable - but they aren't in the UK!! Saw the last issue in Borders and had a quick browse - but had no intention of ever buying it at £6.25 - which translates to about $11.50 I think.

I know it sounds snippy, but free is too much. :) I don't subscribe to any magazines (of any kind), and the kind of thing I've seen in mags like Dragon, Dungeon, etc. is not very helpful to my games. In fact it's often counterproductive. (players reading articles and wanting me to incorporate materials that don't fit my campaign, etc.) Resources like ENWorld and other online communities are far more useful to my games.

That's absurd! Given the current relative strength of Sterling/relative weakness of the dollar, it shouldn't have been more than £4.50 (that's what my FLGS charges). Borders were marking the price up excessively.

As regards the OP's question, firstly, I am already a subscriber, although in my case it's more for the regular deliveries (I lived for a year in Yeovil, where until recently there was no FLGS) than for the price break. However, there actually isn't a price at which I would simply stop getting the magazine - as long as the quality is there, I'll continue buying. Reduce the quality, and I would drop the magazine, at any price point.

C over prices for both Dungeon and Dragon is $9.99 in Canada, which works out to roughly $11.50 after taxes. I subscribe to both so I don't have to pay what I consider an outrageous price for a monthly magazine.

If the newstand total after taxes were $9.00 per magazine, I'd be able to live with it.

I recently went to my FLGS, to look at some issues of Dungeon, to see if I wanted to subscribe. I balked at the current newsstand cover price, and did not pick up an issue to review.

The cover to subscription price ratio looked to be something close to 3:1, which just seems rediculous to me.
