When a creature has ... at will, I know they can do it as much as they won't, but what type of action is it.
Can an imp attack and invisible "at will" in the same round? is "at will" a standard action?

Right, but it's not the "at will" bit that makes it take a standard action. If I'm not mistaken, spell-like and Supernatural abilities generally take a Standard Action. The fact that it's "at will" just means they can do it an unlimited number of times per day.
 

At will just means unlimited charges.

The action type is as normal for the action, like all (Sp) or (Su) abilities usually require a standard action, as written under the general explanation for those ability types.

I think you want "want" here, or my head will explode in a burst of logic.

Everyone else beat me to it. "At will" doesn't mean you do it faster; it just means you do it as often as you want.
