The barbarian scowled as he looked down over the scene, attempting as best he could to assess the relative strength of the giants' inside the courtyard, and the visitors seeking entry at the gates. While they had fared well against Nosra's hill giants and ogres, these five steinjotun seemed of a stronger and certainly more adept stock. Of course, the fire giants at the steading had not proven as much a threat as Kahru has expected, and he did not have the knowledge to judge if a frost jotun might be a greater or lesser threat in battle. The frost hawk did look formidable nonetheless, a guard against aerial attack, and Kahru could at least be thankful that the howling winds provided some buffer between himself and the elemental infused raptor. The owlbear was another matter, it was caged and thus perhaps not under the control of the giants within. Kahru had never attempted to commune with its kind before and did not know if they even behaved in the manner of true bears, but perhaps, given opportunity, he could attempt to calm it and gain its favour. For a moment the northman thought of the Wolfhair whip he had recovered from the Hill Giants Houndmaster - inscribed with the giant's rune for Obedience - but Kahru had gifted that to Sir Donnell as a mark of respect and faith that the young lordling would use it with honour. Actually distinguishing words from this distance might be difficult, though Kahru did attempt to hear what he could of conversations inside and out of the courtyard and also to track Gimlaks telepathic thoughts. (1) 2 Vadasz was also about and the Barbarian-Druid thought to rouse him from his shelter and direct him to the opening in the southwest wall that Gimlaks survey had seen, hopefully his luck would hold as he passed without trace and found a perch within the shelter of the southern warrens. (2) Kahru also pulled back searching to find a better, more sheltered way down from the wall and into the Crag should it be needed. (3) [ooc]Just a wave to say I'm still here :) 1 So can I hear the conversation at the gates either directly or telepathically? Anything else to hear? Am I still telepathically looped in with Gimlak? 2 Vadasz (hawk familiar) directed to south-west opening, high in the wall, and over the gorge, that Gimlak noted as a possible entrance, should they choose to fly in. 3 Kahru is watching, and exploring the area around him, looking for more sheltered ways to get down into the courtyard or sneak into the Crag. and general reminder that Donnell now possesses the Wolfhair Whip:) [/ooc]
