ATI card questions.

Well I finally upgraded today. I went from an Gforce 4 Ti 4200 64 MB to a ATI Radeon 9600 XT 128 MB. Everything runds good, except Doom 3, but I know game has issues with ATI cards. I have a couple of questions.

1. Anyway to get rid of that little 'ati' logo on the taskbar?

2. Anyone have a link to the 4.9 beta drivers that ATI put out in response to Doom 3?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not concerend with FPS with the new drivers. Just ATI cards have issues with Doom 3, people have been having all kinds of trouble with that game that have ATI cards. The game runs good for me. My only problem is the people have a line down the middle of they're body, and half of them is darker then the other half. I heard the 4.9 betas fixes problems with Doom 3.
One other question, can I just install the new drivers over the 4.7 drivers? Or do I have to uninstall the old drivers? I know with Nvidia I just had to install the old drivers.

Everytime I've changed drivers I've uninstalled the old ones first. I think the readme's distributed with the drivers suggest to do that also.

As for Doom 3, it's running fine for me on the 4.7 drivers. Just lucky, I guess :P

I don't know if its because I have a full DX9 card now, but Doom 3 as a whole is alot darker on the new ATI card. I consider it lucky that the game runs at a good clip, just the people looking weird.

The problem is that Nvidia & Id were in bed together during the development of Doom 3. For better of worse Doom 3 was essentially designed to run on Nvidia hardware with little thought given to other vendors.

Sounds like Valve and ATI :p

True enough, that relationship was a reaction to the one started by Nvidia & Id.

From a consumer standpoint neither is great for the industry.
