Attacking from beyond the range of a light source

How does one handle a character attacking from beyond the range of a light source? That is, if your target is carrying a torch but you are outside of the 20 foot radius(even just at 25 feet) and the otherwise prevailing conditions equate to total darkness(target doesn't have low-light vision or darkvision), are you basically invisible to the target (+2 to hit, target denied Dex bonus to AC)? This of course assumes that because the target it well illuminated there is no problem attacking the creature. I'm also assuming the use of ranged weapons.

I use the radius as a range increment of sort. Each increment is another level of concealment until 4 increments are reached then the target is invisible.
