Attention GenCon People! Like your feedback please!!

Nightfall

Sage of the Scarred Lands
This post is primarily for those at GenCon. Why? Cause they are the lucky people that managed to stop over at the WW/S&SS booth and thus can tell me just how good the Player's Guides to Wizards, Bards and Sorcerers, PLUS Player's Guide to Fighters and Barbarians are.

So spill it folks. High Points, low points, etc? Any good stuff in CC Revised? How about the Ravenloft DMG?

Oh, yes! And tell us about any of the Gencon releases that may have caught your eye. Good idea, NF! :)

Eh. Well I figured for us people that couldn't make it, this would be a good way. (Course I'm going to be waiting a while but the first set of Player's Guides WILL be mine. ;) )

I only hope that when you get them, you'll be willing to share your opinion on them... ;) :p

Haha!

I saw them at the Comic-Con! Gen Con suckers! ;)

They looked... uhm... pretty... ok, I flipped through them.

Nightfall, I'm sorry, but I didn't even look at those books, though I did notice them. I decided a while back to stop buying Scarred Lands stuff, since I don't have any interest in the setting. The books I have, I only use as idea-mines, and sadly, I find little that appeals to me.

But here's an incomplete list of what I did pick up....

Arcana Unearthed: I'm not going to say too much about this, because I'm sure others will do it. I've only given it the briefest of looks, and I see some interesting stuff. A lot of it I won't use, like the furry races (Blech. I hate furries.) or those little flying gnat-people.
Testament: This is quite cool. I'll be plugging much of this into my world, somewhere, somehow. Very nicely done.
Hamlet of Thumble: I really, really like this! It's an adventure for first level characters set in a halfling village. The author, Ed Cha, did a really thorough job. From now on, when someone posts about being a new DM and asks which module they should run, I'm gonna recommend this one. I can't wait to see the next adventure in this series.
Counter Collection 4: This is technically for the Arcana Unearthed Diamond Throne setting, but as with all of Claudio's work, it is top notch. Even though I'll never run a Diamond Throne game, I forsee plenty of use for these counters. You should see the giant purple worm! My players will be quaking in their boots. (mwahahahaha!)
Cartographia: Lovely maps. I can imagine lots of use for this too, as long as I have access to a color photocopier that can enlarge.
Denizens of Darkness:What a cool little monster collection this is. It provides lots of ideas for a whole underground ecology, that doesn't include those irritating drow.
Artificer's Handbook: I haven't even had a chance to look through this much. I'll have to report on it later.
The 3.5 books: Yeah, so I paid full price. Silly me. But since I bought them at WotC, I got this kewl canvas tote bag.
Player's Archive:This product from Mystic Eye Games is similar to the Green Ronin Character Folio. It is essentially a booklet with a many-paged character sheet. I like it a great deal. So much so, that I think I may buy them for all my players for Christmas.

Buttercup, which parts of Testament did you like best? Also, are you using it as written, or mining it for ideas?

The concept is interesting, but I haven't been able to flip through it in person yet and the "buzz" isn't convincing me one way or the other yet.

You know I will Mark. ;)

Vy,

Well at least you flipped through them. ;)

B-Cup,

Understand...but was hoping you'd at least LOOK at them.

Yeah, I felt that need to at least touch them. The art was nice, but after the whirlwind of Comic-Con, my mind is blanked.

Tell you what, when I get author copies of Creature Collection III, I'll post my thoughts on that. Fingers crossed that Guy Davis gets brought back to do art for at least one of my critters!
