Mostly mining for ideas, but its too soon to tell. Do you remember that hand drawn map I posted a while back? It had some pyramids, and a road called Dead God Road that exited the map to the south. I'm thinking that if the players choose to follow Dead God Road that they may find a land resembling ancient Mesopotamia. As for which parts I liked best, let's see. I like the tables deliniating Sins, with the various punishments. (Essentially, flogging, exile and death were your choices.) I like the stuff about ritual uncleanness. Imagine a group of PCs arriving in a strange, foreign land. The women standing by the well shriek and cover their faces because the PCs are wearing something that makes them unclean. And some of the monsters are very cool. Death dragons. Sin dragons. I mean, how could you not like those? And some of the spells are fun too. Suffer For Your Sins, for example. It's a 3rd level divine spell that causes damage equal to the negative piety points possessed by everyone in the area. Of course, to make it work, one would have to incorporate the Piety Points concept. Oh, and there are lots of spells that are effective only if the caster knows the target's True Name. I've long thought it would be cool to incorporate the True Name concept into my world, so I was really happy to see these. Generally, I can see lots of use for the book for any DM who wants to have a culture resembling any from the ancient middle east or ancient Egypt.
