The Greatest American Hero is returning! No, Ralph and his pals aren't getting new life as a new series, according to ICv2 the show and several others from Stephen Cannell are getting the DVD treatment courtesy of Anchor Bay Entertainment. The first volume of GAH is scheduled for a late '04 or early '05 release.
The Greatest American Hero ran from 1981 - 1983. The series starred William Katt as a special education teacher who gets an alien suit that grants him superpowers. However, he managed to lose the instruction manual (and another he was given in the third season), so he never really knows how to make everything work exactly. Veteran actor Robert Culp played an uptight FBI agent who helped Katt on his misadventures. The series also starred Connie Selleca as Katt's love interest.
When the series was cancelled in February of 1983. The final episode Thirty Seconds Over Little Tokyo, wasn't the last episode planned. There were still four more unaired episodes in stock: Wizards and Warlocks, It's Only Rock and Roll, Desperado, and Vanity, Says the Preacher. It is unknown from the ICv2 article if the unaired episodes will be included in these releases.
There was an attempt to revive the series in 1986 with The Greatest American Heroine, but that pilot was met with less a than enthusiastic response.
