Augment Healing with wands and scrolls

Rules wise I'd say no. The magic is not coming from the AH cleric who is "using" the wand/scroll, but from the creater. Note that staffs use the creater's or the user caster level, so I could see an argument in this case.

This does beg the Q about pricing a wand/scroll from such a creator.

I'm likely just to houserule it: yes, since it makes life easier in general.

I don't think there is a firm rule answer for this. Some would say since the caster is not actually casting the spell, it doesn't apply. But then others would say that the text for scrolls, for example, says you cast a spell from a scroll so it is you casting the spell and it should apply. You get the same problem with feats like Augment Summoning. Personally I just allow them to apply - it makes things easier.

I would say he would if he crafted the item, yes, no matter who uses it. If not, then no. RAW wise, I would have to say no in all occasions, but I am a sucker for letting things slide a little if it costs you a feat.

I disagree about the rules.

So a rogue casting a scroll from a spell using UMD is now a spellcaster?

Does the Healing domain benefit help with casting healing spells from wands, scrolls or if you drink a potion?

Does that Healing armor ability from MIC benefit from a PC having that feat?

About allowing them: No problem with that, houserules are the games spice.

Okay, so everyone pretty much agrees by RAW it's not allowed.

BUT, it makes for a fine House-Rule to let Augment Healing apply to scrolls and wands.

Thanks a bunch!

That depends on how you define what a spellcaster is. The rogue is casting a spell, but does casting a spell make you a spellcaster? If a character for some strange reason casts one spell in his entire 20 year adventuring career, does that make him a spellcaster for the rest of his life? I'd say a spellcaster is somebody who has ready access to magic, i.e. via preparation or spontaneously. Casting a spell from a scroll does not make you a spellcaster. Perhaps a user of magic, but not a spellcaster. By that argument, any character that has a special armor that can cast haste or fly is also a spellcaster. I'd say no.

In this case I'd say no, since spells from wands, scrolls and potions are generally fixed spell level. You can't just add caster level to one of those. I agree that it makes more sense that 'Augment' would apply if you'd actually crafted the item, but I don't see why I wouldn't allow Augment Summoning and Augment Healing for scrolls and wand. Perhaps an easy middle ground is to only let it apply to spell completion and spell trigger items that you've crafted yourself.

No idea, since I don't have MIC.
