ARGOSSEA
The cooler than normal seasons predicted by the sages since the spring continue into the fall. In the northern parts, and in the mountains, snow begins falling earlier than it usually does. People in the north are again uneasy, due to the rumors of some ice princess outside of the northern borders of Argossea.
They are made more weary by two earthquakes that strike early in the season, a couple of weeks apart. A company of about twenty brave souls is sent north to determine if any of the northern lands were affected, and they return towards the end of the season bearing news that the earthquakes seemed to have been caused by eruptions of the volcano up to the north.
The flow of goods through Asgalun slows throughout the season, until in the last month it comes to a stop as the workers succeed in banding together and ordering a general strike. They picket at the docks and the warehouses, and there is a fair bit of violence as they lash out against scabs brought in to do the work. The city watch seems to tolerate this violence, though whether they are sympathetic to the cause, or just find it beneath their notice, is unknown.
Scouts from Chaldea into Rorkik report that the orc settlements are starting to organize themselves, rather than their usual chaos. King Solshin orders the military to begin drilling itself for possible invasion. People on the eastern borders likewise begin to prepare. Remarkably, few flee; the Argosh are a hardy lot.
For the most part, the rest of the country conducts business as usual, even with all of the dire predictions. With the strike and violence in Asgalun, there start to be more caravans over land, and how can things be too bad as long as the coin is rolling in?
CEOMYR
"Baron" Swythun of Ceodrylla begins the none-to-subtle take-over of more of the city of Gwullrya, enacting laws requiring all families to maintain at least one hundred guards for their neighborhoods, and then arresting smaller houses who cannot afford to do so and seizing their lands. House Caleandra opposes Swythun on this, and find that no other noble House will stand with them against Swythun's apparent Tyranny. Subsequently, House Caleandra begins amassing its own troops, numbering over a thousand by then end of the summer.
Just as it appears a civil war may begin in Gwullrya, Duke Fythen's army returns, decimated by the Dinosaur forces in Ren. Duke Fythen, grieviously wounded, is given treatment in House Caleandra. As long as the Duke remains on Caleandra property, Swythun dares not raise a hand against them.
As the Duke recovers, the few hundred men left from his vast army spread tales of terror about dinosaurs transforming into horrid undead monstrosities when struck down, their eyes glowing green and mouths dripping pestilent icor. Men fallen by these monstrousities' bites would also rise as zombies or worse to fight their former comrades.
CRYNDON
Work on the new port city is redirected into turning it into a defensible posistion, due to the possibility of a retaliatory attack from the Ulruz Usurper.
Fortifications continue at the end of the Homeroad. The Cryndonites prepare for an all-out assault on the giants. Otherwise, all is quiet in the kingdom.
HIBRIDEAS
There are rumors coming from the Northern forest of Zaphoree that the lost Crown of the Hibrideas King has been found. Being one of the thirteen crowns created by Aohalim himself, this minor artifact was lost with the death of King Ashetan years ago. Now, the new king Baromier are sending parties of well-trained adventurers to search for the Crown in an attempt to secure his power.
Lugojui, known amongst the other cities as "The Pirate City" has declared itself an independent kingdom and has put the Pirate King Totahim in the reins of power. This is of course being met with the forces of Hibrideas attempting to reinstate their rule by sending armies against this insurrection. However, the city is cloaked by a forest on one side and the coral reefs on the other making an atteck difficult.
The main supplier of magical weapons comes from the elven city of Hanadoira and they are experts of their craft, but now they may have competition. A great dwarven-smith of unknown origin has made a name for himself in the Karobee-Shau Mountains. Cloaked in great mystery, the dwarf known merely as the Smith crafts weapons of such great power that he is sought by most everybody on the island. The elves have tried to discover the secrets of his techniques but have thus met with failure. It is said that some of his weapons may even be able to "harm the gods."
KINRISAR
Kinrisar's Navy returns to the campaigns in Ulruz after a successful summer campaign against the pirates of the eastern islands. Many powerful pirate captains and lords were captured or killed. Their vessels were either burned to the waterline or captured and commissioned into service in the Navy.
The fleet turns its attention back to the east and sails for northern Ulruz and a planned meeting with Antonius' forces to strike at the northern borders of the rebel forces. Storms slow the fleet for weeks. Rumors fly through the below decks that Eraekoth is angered in some way. Others blame Typhus' hand in bringing the early and severe weather this year. In any event, the fleet arrives too late to assist Antonius with troops in this theater. Messengers arrive from Antonius and ask the Kinrisar admiral to bring his fleet back to Doluhre to consolidate their forces. The fleet turns south and makes port in Doluhre without further incident.
A new cult in Prea Abo is becoming more public. They are known as the Smoking Claw. Their organization and their goals remain shrouded in mystery and rumor. Recent crimes and disappearances are now being blamed on this mysterious group.
Tibo is attacked again by the dragon. The docks suffer from her wrath as she landed along the wharf and ripped up the pilings and planks of several major piers. Several guardsmen died as they tried to drive her off with arrows. Refugees begin to leave the city for the mainland cities of Yyrak and Crolon.
An adventuring group returns to Jalex Dur from their foray into the Jarra Jungle. While they are somewhat quiet about exactly what they returned with, many of the girls working the taverns report being paid in emeralds and other gems. What they are saying is that they found an old city and during the exploration came across a hoard of treasure buried deep within the catacombs below.
MITTENDIEN
News slowly spreads across the kingdom of the goblins in the East. In the spring, a massed tribe emerged from the Mistwood and crossed the River Olderfen, showing tactical organization and training previously unheard of in wild goblins. They assaulted the village of Tillich, and in a short and brutal battle, the town was lost. Of over seven hundred citizens, barely two hundred escaped with their lives; however, those that fought were able to cripple the two-hundred strong army. A unit of the Mittendienish Army, dispatched from Marzen to investigate, was easily able to hunt down and kill the remaining goblin murderers.
The Kaiser, troubled by this news, has instituted new policies in the military. Bounty for goblins has tripled to 3 sp per head, and many frontier towns have taken to proudly displaying severed goblin heads upon the walls. Squads of archers and oarsmen have been organized to patrol the rivers, hunting for intrusions of savage humanoids. Emmisaries are sent to Thoradur, in hopes of contracting Dwarven hands to construct a mighty fortress where Tillich once stood. Rumors even fly that Magnus Krieghelm, the first martyr of the battle, will be honored postumously at the new Krieghelm Keep.
PALUDOSUS
After the political upheavals of the summer months tensions in the kingdom settle down somewhat during the harvest as normal Paludosans concentrate on gathering and preparing food for the leaner winter months, however under the surface of normal life is an undercurrent of tension, whispered conversations in taverns tell of disappearances and nightime raids around the country, and the less discreet openly name the Silent Tongues and the Fangs of the Dragon as being behind these events.
The official statements of the government acknowledge 'these times of uncertainty' and reiterate that all the organs of the state are exerting their utmost efforts to identify and locate those who were behind the recent assasination attempt.
SURYANASTA
King Sargen Nimbar has ordered a new ship to be built--a great and powerful warship, named "The Emerald Dragon". The ship will be entering sea trials within several weeks, and begin to outfit its new crew for operations.
Explorers have discovered the ruins of Dar-Al-Karneb, a vast city from antiquity. The strange city features numerous labyrinths and multi-tiered buildings and large ziggurats. In one of the ziggurats the team of explorers encountered a wise and powerful Lammasu named Darthorran. Darthorran has led the explorers to an underground groto and a huge enchanted underground lake. The shimmering lake is encircled by many ruins and in the center of the great lake is a mysterious island, enshrouded in mist. The lake itself shimmers with strange lights that glimmer underneath the waves, and occasional screams and howlings can be heard throughout the shoreline and the area surrounding the lake. The lake seems to have unusual magical properties, and some of the expeditions' wizards believe that the lake can also lead to other dimensions or strange realms. In the areas surrounding the lake, there have been several large caverns discovered where there are rich silver and ruby mines, as well as clusters of large purple and white mushrooms. The unusual mushrooms have an exhilirating effect upon ingestion, though some of the people have developed some mutations by eating some of the mushrooms. In addition, large, ferocious tribes of white trolls have been attacking the explorers and other engineers as they excavate and explore the region.
ULRUZ
Antonius sets upon a bold plan, and sends the army of his Kinrisar allies sailing west, to land west of Opraots; they are to take the Ashegnome hills and then march east to flank the rebel army just after they are engaged by a massed formation of Antonius' loyal Legions. Unfortunately for Antonius, he is unaware that the Kinrisari are delayed for two weeks by a storm which has damaged a large number of their ships. Word of this arrives in Doluhre too late to stop Antonius from marching out unsupported.
The loyal Legions engage a rebel force nearly twice their size, consisting mostly of garrison units and auxilia. Antonius engages the well dug in defenders, but his advance momentum stalls when the expected Kinrisari troops fail to arrive. Only then do the massed rebel Legions and their newly-allied Centaur forces come swooping in from the east, flanking and enveloping the loyal Legions.
Antonius escapes, fleeing back to Doluhre, but his remaining forces are now spread so thin that he can only afford to defend Doluhre itself with the XII Legion, which he does with a masterful display of his leadership ability. His Kinrisari allies return to Doluhre however for the winter.
In a stroke of good luck, Caedmon offers mercenaries to Antonius, who gladly accepts.
