Avatar The Last Airbender RPG

Hello all. I have searched the internet and found a couple of posts online about this. However, i think i may have to do a conversion myself. Does anyone have and ideas or suggestions ? I havnt decided what i want to go off of . Im thinking Either 3.5 , 4th , or Legend of the 5 Rings.

I have a lot of experience with 3.5, and 4th edition. I would basically add a Bending Skill, for free form bending and then Spells/Powers for specific bending powers.

Im thinking 4th edition would be easiest for this cause i could just create a couple of powers for each level, and then go from there, i could create 4 bending classes, and then Use the Martial Classes for those without bending powers. Not sure what i could do for 3.5 . I guess i could use some similar classes.

I havnt ever played L5R but i have been reading up on it. I found the 4th edition character sheet and it looks like it could easily be adapted to Avatar minus the Void thing. Any suggestions or ideas ?

While watching the show, it immediately struck me that I wanted to play a D&D 4e conversion of it. (In particular, watching the first episode of season 3 prompted me to exclaim out loud, "Dude, they just hit Paragon!") So yeah, that's the system I'd go with.

I found an Avatar 4E booklet from some people on the WoTC message board. I just Googled it and found the book on scribd:

Here is a link

When I saw the thread, the last post said that they were playtesting it. I don't know if the scribd version is the most up-to-date.

I am looking for the original thread in the D&D forums as I write this and will post a link if I can find it.

Found the thread! The last post by the book creator was May 6th of this year. It includes some notes on updates to rules.

I'd suggest you take look at Adamant's Icons game. I purchased this a couple weeks ago, and as I read it, I kept thinking to myself..."Self, you could easily run an Avatar the Last Air Bender game with this". Strip away the cape wearing heroes in tights trappings of the game and the flexibility of the powers system would match Avatar beautifully.

It's a FATE system variant, which having absolutely no experience with FATE concerned me at first. Now that I've read it and (I think) digested the concept of aspects in a FATE game, I'm looking into buying other FATE based games.

The first time I saw the Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon I thought "Holy crap, someone made a cartoon out of Exalted: The Dragonblooded!"

It would work with minimal mechanical changes and some fluff changes. The different elements, powers that work with them, the magi-tech stuff the fire nation uses, the martial arts feel. Just split them into different nations based on elements, and call them "Benders" instead of "Exalts" and you're good to go.

Hello. I'm Ekio, from the Wizard forums. :)

We're copy editing the PDF right now and the full document (with classes, feats, paragon paths, epic destinies, hybrids, magic items, etc.) should be released in the next week if I had to guess.

Depending on the amount of interest generated from this little project, me and Usagi (the other guy writing this) are thinking of eventually doing a second book, with new builds, powers, paths, etc. Maybe monsters. Because I really want to stat out Koh the Facestealer.
