Axiomatic Creature and Linked Minds

I have a question about this ability granted by Axiomatic Creature:

Linked Minds (Ex): The target can communicate telepathically with other axiomatic creatures of its type within 300 feet. If one in the group is not flat-footed, none of them are, and no axiomatic creature in the group is considered flanked unless they all are.

So, if one axiomatic creature in the group is human, and another elemental, they could not benefit from this ability?

I believe that "of its type" has one of two meanings:

1) The D&D creature types: humanoid vs. plant vs. outsider
2) The specific creature: modrons w/ modrons, humans w/ humans, etc.

Does the Axiomatic template work similar to the Celestial template?

Personally, I believe that the template refers to case 1. Thus, an axiomatic magical beast can telepathically communicate with all other axiomatic magical beasts.

I agree with Patryn on this one. I'd interpret it as being limited to other creatures within your same type (elemental, magical beast, whatever).

And, yes, the "axiomatic" template works similarly to the "celestial". Axiomatic is to lawful as celestial is to good.

I should have been more specific. :) What I meant to ask was whether the axiomatic template works similar to celestial, in that it changes Animals' and Vermin's types to Magical Beast, while every other type remained the same, as opposed to half-celestial, which changes all types to Outsider.

I assume from what you said and the above text that it only affects the types of Animals and Vermin.
