[QUOTE="rwelle, post: 5407296, member: 95722"] As you continue on through the increasingly poor weather the rain turns into hail. Those who have hoods pull them up, offering some protection from the stinging ice. The road begins to harden, becoming crunchy rather than muddy. After many hours of climbing up one hill and down another it feels as if you've been walking forever. As you crest the next rolling hill you see the forest beginning to give way to sparsely covered hills. The weather begins to clear though you can still hear the distant roar of thunder and flashes of lightning light the southeastern sky. The road begins to take a more westerly direction as you begin to truly climb. The slope at first is gentle but it soon becomes a grade just gentle enough for a wagon to traverse it. The road is surrounded here by broken granite boulders, covered in white and gray lichen. Every now and then it seems like you can see a shape in the boulders, as if it was once shaped by sentient hands. [sblock=History 15]You recall that this area was once the site of an ancient elven city.[sblock=History 20]It was the first city of the high elves, before they headed south to the island chain, the entire city was carved from granite. It was known for its beautiful architecture and finely detailed carvings, of course they have now been faded by the winds of time and these broken granite slabs is all that remains. There is rumored to be treasure if one leaves the road, but rumors also speak of ancient beasts that haunt these ruins.[/sblock][/sblock] The broken granite continues to litter your surroundings as you climb higher. The sky begins to darken, though it is thankfully clear. Will you push on or make camp for the night? There are several open circles in the broken stone. Or you could make camp here on the road. Several blackened fire pits can be seen in both the clearings and along the road. [/QUOTE]
