New York City in 2005 is a much different place than it was in 1989... the last time the Ghostbusters got a lot of press. It was then that the boys in grey defeated an ancient warrior who had taken control of the Metropolitain Museum of Art in hopes of accomplishing a rebirth of sorts. Through the liberal use of proton packs and positively charged emotion slime, they were able to emerge victorious. Since then... the past sixteen years have been very low-key for them. Over time they have indeed set up a number of Ghostbuster franchises across the U.S. (including Canada and a special one in Paris), and created the corporation Ghostbusters International. Thus, the company's founders have all moved on to other cities to get these new branches up and running. This is the reason why ads were run through all the major New York newspapers, in hopes of filling out the original New York branch. A mass of people have all filed into the Ghostbusters firehouse headquarters, and over the past five days, Ghostbuster International has been reading resumes and interviewing people for the job. Finally, esteemed Ghostbusters office manager Louis Tully walks from the back of the office, clipboard in hand, and brings the room to attention. To his right in a waifish little girl, no more than ten years of age, wearing thick horn-rimmed glasses and her hair done up in buns like Princess Leia. Tully speaks... 'Um... hello. To you all. Again. My name is Louis Tully and I'm the one who's hiring you. Well... hiring some of you. A FEW of you, at any rate. The rest of you can go home. Or you can stay. If you want. Here in the lobby. Right?' He looks down at the little girl, who nods her head. 'Yes... you can stay if you want, on the off-chance that the ones I do hire don't come back from their first assignment. Or any assignment, for that matter. If you do stay, please be reminded that you cannot use our phone to call out for pizza. There's a payphone across the street.' Louis stops for a second in slight confusion... and looks down at his clipboard. The little girl pulls at his shirt, and then whispers something to the man. His eyes brighten immediately, and he speaks again, this time in a louder voice. 'Oh yes! The ones I'm hiring! Um... those of you who hear their name announced, please step forward and follow this young woman upstairs. This is my daughter, Vince Tully, and she will see that you're taken care of. I'll be up shortly.' 'Braunschwagger... Xander...' 'Hufflemeyer... William...' 'Pembroke... Elyssa...' 'Ravensoul... Gina...' He looks at the clipboard for a second, then aims it at his daughter. 'What's this name?' he asks. She again whispers to him, and he looks at her confusedly for a second, then shrugs. 'What's his name... Dan...' 'Whetney... Sara...' As the six people make their way up the stairs of the firehouse, Louis turns the remaining twenty-seven people in the lobby. 'Thank you for coming. You're not wanted. At least... not yet. Maybe shortly. Turnover tends to be high here. Slimer here will see you out...' And with that, Louis turns on his heels to join the six newest Ghostbusters upstairs in the kitchen area of the firehouse. Upon hearing his name, the green glob of a ghost, Slimer, flies out of the ceiling, shakes his head, and drenches the remaining twenty-seven would-be Ghostbusters with a coat of green slime.
