Below is a copy of my premise for a d20 Modern game taking place in 2004. I was wondering what people thought of it. All opinions are welcome. To Avenge the Wronged One possible future… In 2045 the veil was shattered. No one knows what caused it to shatter, maybe it degraded over centuries of use or perhaps a cabal of wizards dealing in the dark arts forced it to collapse. What ever the reason the Shattering occurred on the night of June 6, 2045 and the course of world history was changed. No longer did people disregard the unexplainable. Everyday people could now see goblins, vampires, demons, and magic, their minds would no longer rationalize these sights away. Fear and panic spread through the world. Riots started and governments collapsed. People turned to religion and Pope John Paul III was there to guide them. The Roman Catholic Church (RCC) told the people that God would see them through this crisis and that these creatures that were hiding in their midst were the work of Satan himself. The churched demanded that the children of Satan be destroyed. There were more riots in the streets and roving bands of Purist took to the streets hunting down these creatures. By 2055 a large section of Kansas was seized by the new president of the United States Cardinal Quincy McDowell and the Kansas Detention camp was formed. The camp was built to contain captured Devil Spawns. People, who were thought to be of Shadow or affiliated with it, were rounded up and placed within Kansas’s fifty foot high steel and concrete walls. People sent to the camp were tattooed across their foreheads and left on their own inside the camp. They were forced to survive the best they could all the US government and the RCC did was make sure they never left the camp again. Many similar camps began to show up in Europe and the East, but Kansas was the biggest and the worst. Around the world groups of sympathetic people formed resistance cells and began to help the creatures of Shadow avoid the Hunter / Killer packs of the world’s governments and especially the RCC. The largest of these groups was based somewhere in North America and called themselves the Black Diamonds. In 2140 a cell of the Black Diamonds discovered a way to manipulate the forces of time and open a portal to the distance past. Their plan was to send a group of volunteers through the portal and kill people they believed were responsible for the RCC Death Camps and Hunter Teams. Unfortunately they only had partial information on where to go and who to kill but they were brave young heroes struggling to survive in a world that hated them. Melissa the Sorcerer and leader of Team 9 began the Ritual of Time and a portal was opened to the past and a future of a better life. The team began to enter the portal when the RCC and Delta Force burst into the warehouse spraying it with lead. Six members of Team 9 were killed instantly and the others ran through the portal into a dark and cool forest. As the last member of the Team jumped through the portal exploded in a flash of light. There was no going back Team 9 was stranded in the past with a mission to save the future. A mission they would never know if they completed. In the future as the portal was exploding Agent Cassius of the RCC Philadelphia dove for the portal knowing he must follow the few Spawn that escaped the purge operation. He got the portal just as it exploded. There was a flash of bright light and Cassius awoke in a corn field sometime later. Was he in the past? It was hard to say but, he was an agent of the RCC and he would continue his mission. The Spawns of Team 9 must be stopped. Team Nine is currently stuck in the past and has killed two people, a RCC priest and an alter boy when the group gets wind of strange evidence found at the crime scences. I think the story should have some good action and some moral issues when they find out who Team 9 really is and who Agent Cassius is. I have no idea who my group will support. In truth who is the good guy and who is the bad guys, hard to say. Hope you enjoyed my long winded post.
