"Dodging the attack, Tharivol tumbled past the creature. Springing up several
feet to the creature's left, he uttered a series of arcane syllables as his
free hand waved an eldritch sign in the air. A luminous disk appeared
briefly in the air before him and then faded into invisibility.

Tharivol is DODGING the creature (AC 25), plus now has shield cast and aimed
in the direction of the creature (AC 32). Next round, he will use expertise
to make his AC 37, but for now it stands as 32."

The creature is visibly frustrated by this tactic. It throws its head back and screams. Fort Save (DC 20) to avoid the effect. and disappears.

Tharivol steeled himself against the sound of the screem, but he could not resist its force.

an unearthly cold pierces your bones. You feel weak, helpless, and alone. Your body feels as if it has been carved upon with a razor blade, but you can find no marks. (6 damage). Listen check (-2 penalty from the creatures attack)

[Listen Check=7]

Calling upon the innate powers of his Moonblade, Tharivol cast "Haste" upon himself.

[AC now 36, plus an extra partial action].

Tharivol, on defense [using EXPERTISE], approached the creature once more, swinging his sword toward its midsection.

[28 to hit with his Longsword, 8 damgage if he makes contact, my Armor class is now 41].

your ears ring most unpleasantly, but the wail, the same wail that cut through your skull recently seems to becoming from some distant point (another listen check)

You believe you hear, but you are truly unsure, the sounds of battle wafting through the trees softly like a midmorning breeze.
At this point you are very unsure of where they could be coming from... or even if they're real.

Calling upon his empathic bond with his Raven familiar, Tharivol sought out the source of the sounds he thought he heard. "Where?" He sent an emotional query to his bird.
