Back to the Wall

To paraphrase someone else I read earlier today,

I don't think we're going to be able to read the rules like Talmudic scholars anymore.

So, I think its a wall if its sufficiently wallish that the DM thinks it counts as a wall. For me, that means that if it blocks one side of you (if you can plausibly put your back to it for protection) then its a wall.

Technically it would apply to walls only. It seems to be designed as a typical "you fight in a 10ft. wide corridor" feat.

I see no problem with house ruling it that it applies to equal situations, or can be used as a defensive maneuver (like "the evil monsters have pushed you through the room, you are now at the back wall. there is no escape, you must fight"-situations).

Does an illusory wall count?

Is wall of fog technically a wall?

How about fighting back-to-back with an ally whilst surrounded by foes?

What if the players just THINK it's a wall, and it's really an extremely oddly-shaped immobile stone golem crafted by a senile wizard?

:D

We could start up some kind of Dungeons and Dragons monastery somewhere. Churn out rules scholars and label future splatbooks of our choosing as heresy or canon.

If it is perceived real, sure. :)

Its power description includes "wall" so... I think so?

Dramatically appropriate. You gain the feat's effect and a +2 circumstance bonus to one roll this turn, if you describe your powers effect including the interaction with your ally.

Same as illusory wall, i think. :D

Great ideas! :D

I'd say if it's an occlusion that blocks movement, you can count it as a wall.

I say occlusion to differentiate it from pits, rivers, and foes.

Neat idea, but does it have to be a wall? What about a large tree or a wagon? Does it have to be an object of a certain size to qualify as a wall?
I would rule that, if it's an object that blocks line of effect then it counts as a wall.
