As for him having the journal in the dungeon, I don't have much of an explanation for that other than I needed to get the exposition in. I would argue that as a commoner that had a job as a messenger he probably wouldn't have been considered much of a threat, or that he had it sufficiently hidden on his person to have it with him.</blockquote>
