Balanced Voluntary Poverty for a Psychic

Chronologist

First Post
I'm in a campaign, playing a Worldthought Medic (psionic healer) and I want to play a character that gives all her wealth to charity. At the same time, however, I don't want to be perpetually behind the other party members in strength because of this. What I'd like to do is take something similar to Vow of Poverty, only more reasonable and oriented towards a psionic empathic healer.

My idea so far is to gain the following benefits:

- Increased Wisdom and Constitution (the two stats needed for the character)
- Fast Healing, so that my Empathic Transfer spells don't kill me outright.
- Bonuses to saving throws (especially against disease, poison, and death)

Nothing else is really important, although if I could grant some benefits to other party members who are part of my psychic network, that would really contribute to the feel I'm looking for.

Contextually, the DM is giving out a lot of party wealth, about 30% more than the DM's guide recommends.

Advice would be great. I usually do my own homebrew but Vow of Poverty has a reputation to it, and I know Enworld has some of the best insight available concerning these matters.

VoP is pretty cool and powerful at lower levels, but falls way behind expected wealth at higher levels.

The powers you suggest are only defensive in nature and will make you the "leave him for last" dude unless you are significantly aiding the damage dealers.

Fast healing as an area of effect, for instance, would be good - scaling up at higher levels.

Look at the scaling bard powers, like inspire courage, and think about retooling them to your needs. Instead of attack and damage bonuses, maybe AC and save bonuses. And temp hit points. Also, think about an ability like the Iron Heart Surge maneuver in ToB (except without the broken RAW errors).

Thanks for the quick response.

I have the ability to use Empathic Transfer, Hostile to inflict large quantities of damage on opponents while healing the party, so I'm a pretty big threat. I like getting hit though, it makes me stronger.

I'm primarily concerned with my hit point and power point pools (hence Con and Wis bonuses). Save bonuses to myself and the party would actually be nice. However, I don't want fast healing for others, only myself, and at a decently high rate when I need it. The idea is to transfer the wounds of allies to myself, keep the tide down with fast healing, then hit an enemy with Empathic Transfer Hostile for a lot of damage.

With my group, giving fast healing to allies would just encourage them to do stupid stuff. I'm charitable NG, not a moron (heh).
