Bardic Knowledge stack with regular knowledge skills?

I have a player who just took his first level of the Bard class. This is the first time any of my players have taken a Bard level since switching over to 3e back when 3e first came out. I was looking over the "Bard Knowledge" feat that the Bard gets. I need a little clarification before we begin play.

Does the Bard's "Bardic Knowledge" check stack with a regular knowledge skill such as Religion, History, etc.? Is there any written material supporting the answer to this question?

no, they're seperate things.

A PC could make a roll to answer a question with abrdic knowledge, and if that failed he could make a roll with the apropriate knowledge skill, but the two things are seperate and neither allows a retry.
