Gen Con Wrap-Up (August 23rd, 2004): Bastion Press finished its exhibition at the Gen Con Game Fair to the strongest sales and showing its ever had at the show. Driven by the Special Gen Con Edition of Arms & Armor and the release of Oathbound: Mysteries of Arena, the Bastion Press staff greeted gamers from all over the world at this year's granddaddy of all game conventions. "Thursday was an absolute feeding frenzy; the busiest I've ever seen the first day of the show. The gamers descended on the Exhibit Hall like a pack of hungry wolves." said Jim Butler, Editor-in-Chief of Bastion Press. ARMS & ARMOR The Special Gen Con Edition of Arms & Armor served as a special preview edition of Arms & Armor v3.5, which will be released in early September by Bastion Press. Arms & Armor contains over 200 weapons and nearly 200 unique magical weapon qualities, plus 100 types of armor and defenses and nearly 200 unique armor qualities all culled from more than 100 open content sources. The Gen Con Edition also contained data sets for E-Tools and PCGen, plus a PDF version of Arms & Armor. "Given the response to the data set, Bastion is providing an option for gamers to buy the data sets directly from the Bastion Press Online Store." said Jim Butler. "Distributors and retailers also have the option of ordering the CD-ROM directly from Bastion." We also have a few copies of the Gen Con Special Edition left (maybe six copies). I'll put these up on the website as well once our warehouse unpacks everything from the show. To Pre-Order Your Copy of the Arms & Armor Hardcover, visit: http://tinyurl.com/6pu4n OATHBOUND: MYSTERIES OF ARENA The latest chapter in the Oathbound campaign setting made its debut at Gen Con as well. We talked with lots of fans about the future of Oathbound and future product plans, such as: 1.) Future domains will be covered in a single hardcover and serve as brand new entry points into the campaign setting. So, if you didn't like the city adventuring of Penance or the warfare nature of Arena, you'll be able to easily jump into the setting as we introduce future expansions. 2.) Being able to quickly search through the vast library of Oathbound books is something many people asked for, and we'll increase our conversion to PDF for the remaining products. 3.) Oathbound Legacy: This is a new program to offer adventures and other material for GMs. Look for the first issue as a PDF download in the next few weeks. To order your copy of Mysteries of Arena, visit: http://tinyurl.com/6tawb TORN ASUNDER: CRITICAL HITS To celebrate our silver-medal win in this year's ENnies, the Bastion Press Online Store is selling Torn Asunder: Critical Hits for only $16.95 through the end of the month. Thanks again for everyone that has made this product such a success! http://tinyurl.com/4pbzu FUTURE PRODUCTS To cope with the changes in the RPG industry, Bastion will be moving to larger products and fewer releases (Arms & Armor, a 176-page hardcover, represents the first of these).
