Just a simple query as to whether anyone has picked up this newest PDF offering from Bastion Press? If so, and you don't want to write a full review, what are its high and low points? Is it worth the $7 price tag?

Actually, after being handed it by my friend Eric Price I read through it last week. I posted a review of it on my website.

The direct link is here.

This review really did not flow as well as I wanted. That might be because I did not want to come off sounding unfairly negative, and it might be because I tried a new format for reviews. The end answer to your question is that I would not have bought it, which is probably why Eric gave it to me in the first place.

I can easily understand why.

From my years of experience, druids simply aren't that much fun to play or GM unless you've got some options and 'umph' for them. I've played the traditional Ranger-Druid, Druid, Druid whose so neutral he's basically evil, etc... and of course GMed several different types, but it really isn't in the same league as fighters, barbarians and rogues when it comes to the whole archetype. It's of a more ancient tradition and lacks the 'cool' flavor of the monk.

Of course, just my own opinion.

I've got a copy with a review pending (it'll be written in a day or two). Good product.

Has a number of PrCs focused on a particular climate (desert/mountain/arctic), some pretty appropriate feats, a number of new spells, mechanics for herbology and homeopathic remedies, mechanics for curing hides of various creatures to make new types of hide armor, more about selecting an animal companion (mechanics for rare/exotic ones), establishing a druid circle.

There's some nicely balanced work there; nothing I'd consider over-the-top (except maybe "Fission", which is a druid-nuke, but that's a 9th-level, single target spell).

If I had to sum it up in one ssentence (stealing from my review):

"How not to be a passive, anti-social vegetarian."
