Greetings!
For some time now, I’ve been eavesdropping on various conversations regarding PDFs across the range of websites devoted to RPGs. I’ve been listening to everyone talk about what they loved and hated about PDFs. I took that knowledge back and have been working on ways to eliminate some of the barriers to PDF sales.
The first thing I heard was that bright, colorful borders look wonderful, but they’re real hard on printer cartridges. In response to this concern, we’ve gone back through our entire library of on-sale PDFs and bundled two versions together (bordered and unbordered). These new bundles are available at all of the stores that carry our electronic downloads (RPGNow, SVGames, and our own website).
I also heard that downloading and storing those PDFs was a pain, and losing the PDF due to a hard-drive crash was a huge nuisance. To combat this, we’re now offering all the PDFs for sale on CD-ROM. We’ve divided them up into Adventures and Sourcebooks.
We are also providing a Mega Pack that contains both the Adventure and Sourcebook materials.
And while we’re looking for an affordable way to get our full-color PDF products to you in a printed form, I don’t have any news to report on that front… yet. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Bastion Press Message Boards about what else you’d like to see us do with PDFs.
And, in related PDF news, Mike Cantrell has some new maps to supplement the Danger in Deadwood adventure. You can see those at his website.
I hope to see some of you at Gen Con!
