Battlefield/encounter maps

Are there free wilderness maps to use for encounters posted anywhere online?

I'd like a bundle of interesting maps that detail an environment in order to spice up battles. Things like, a pre-drawn field with a river running through it with rocks & trees already laid out. Or a canal with a bridge across. Or even something as wild as a lava pit with platforms poking out that people could fight across.

The more interesting the terrain, the better. I'm not very good at creating an environment that provides opportunities to use the environment as an advantage in battle, or requires skill checks to fight on. My encounters usually consist of me saying, "You're ambushed by a gang of thugs" and i setup the minis without really drawing any rocks/trees/rivers/ect on the battlemat. It just slips my mind! Even drawing terrain levels on the mat to represent mounds on the ground would be nice.

Anyone have any suggestions?

It's primarily a map of an Abbey, but it has some cool external features as well...

Zowie! Ashy, that map is amazing, the snow and terrain bits especially. I'll bookmark the page but what did you use to amke that.

Thanks, Rothe! You should see the *finished* map - makes this one look like a rough draft! I did not make it, but a pal of mine - Brannon Hall - did; he used Photoshop (I helped a little...)

Keep checking the site - the Abbey has several levels and we'll get all these maps up eventually and then the REAL treat begins!
